CHECKING IN: Tropical Paradise in Ubud

For the same price as a night in a Holiday Inn in Brixton you can spy on monkeys from your jungle balcony and enjoy a sunset dinner on an island in the middle of a cliff side pool. Welcome to Ubud.

When we first arrived at Kupa Kupa Barong we were ushered up into an impossibly beautiful golden hut reception, dressed in two frangipani necklaces and given a bubbling elderflower wine to enjoy while they showed us a map of the resort. London who?

This place is a ten minute walk from the main road but it’s built into the jungle. Where you’d normally have hallways between rooms, here you’ll find winding cliff top paths drowned in tangled vines.

Whether it’s Japanese, Indonesian or homely western food you want, they’ve got it all. The prices are slightly above average for Bali but you’re paying for the perfect service and jaw dropping views.

Also on offer is a late night tropical pool and bar, 7am yoga sessions and a gym to use… even though I couldn’t face working out and missing a second of my 48 hour stay.

An absolute must if you’re heading to Ubud for any special occasion is to book this table at the restaurant in advance. We stupidly turned up and asked for it as if no-one else had noticed it was there.

JUST LOOK AT THIS THOUGH. Also, important to note is that, this isn’t a flattering picture of the setup, it looks even better in real life. This shit is so romantic i’d get a table for one and propose to myself.
